No two all-inclusive resorts are the same, and if you're looking for a sun and sand getaway it's important to determine the right island along with the right resort for you and your family. Check out three of our current favorites below.
Hyatt Ziva Cap Cana - Dominican Republic
If you're looking for a modern all inclusive resort with a great water park and calm ocean to swim in - look no further than the Hyatt Ziva Cap Cana. This is a beautifully maintained resort - and one of the only resorts that will guarantee connecting rooms (for an additional cost). Opened in 2019 and set on Juanillo Beach, Hyatt Ziva is in the gated community of Cap Cana - only 15 minutes from the Punta Cana airport. Cap Cana includes a protected harbor and award-winning golf course while the resort overlooks a quarter mile of white sand beaches, and has a fitness center where you can work out on your own or take one of the many offered classes. Relax after at the serene Cenote-inspired spa complete with a hydrotherapy circuit and an outdoor oasis lagoon. Daily included activities for all ages include themed pool parties, aqua-cycling, and non-motorized water sports. You can all enjoy the infinity pools or have fun at the waterpark with a lazy river, slides, and water cannons. While you won't find a party vibe here you will find a kid's club, teen club, and family friendly presentations at the outdoor amphitheater. You'll have plenty of restaurant options, 24 hour room service, and if you can sneak away from the kids the concierge can arrange a private candlelit dinner on the beach or inside one of the oceanfront gazebos. Overall this is a beautiful resort for families.
Hyatt Ziva Rose Hall - Jamaica
Looking for a great family resort for a home base but you also want to get out and have some great off-resort adventures? Check out Hyatt Ziva Rose Hall in Jamaica. This resort doesn't have a waterpark - so that is one thing you need to know. However, it's located within Jamaica's famous mountains and is great for relaxation and recreation - while putting you in a great place to experience the best Jamaica has to offer. Some room categories have butlers and there are rum sommeliers as well. Kayaks, catamarans and boogie boards are included in your stay as are pool activities, and fitness classes, and the KidZ Club and Teen Club. You'll find family games like bingo, shuffleboard, corn hole, and water ping-pong. Or you can hang out on the beach and take part in beach volleyball and pool basketball games. Jamaican street music, acrobatics, and Caribbean steel drums are offered as entertainment. Last - Jamaica is a terrific option to get off resort with escorted adventures. Two of our favorites are out to Blue Hole Secret Falls and Green Grotto Caves - only to be booked with our wonderful in-destination partner.
Iberostar Paraiso Maya - Mexico
If you're a multi-generation family looking for a getaway, and you need to be a bit more price conscious - this is a great option. While it's not as new as some of the other resorts (built in 2005 and the interior is a bit dated but kept up well) this resort has a lovely beach, is in a great location, and has plenty to do. This resort is part of the Iberostar complex and staying there gives you access to three of the other Iberostar hotels in the complex. This is a larger resort and more spread out with an older Mexican feel.
This resort has 8 pools to soak in - including a lazy river, along with a wave pool kids and the Aquafun waterpark. Star Camp and Lucy's Mini Club offer a variety of activities for kids. You'll also have plenty of activities along with nighttime shows for the whole family. The all inclusive plan gives you access to 15 different restaurants and bars spread throughout the complex. Relax at the spa, featuring an indoor pool and specialized massages and treatments. Golf is available at the Iberostar Playa Paraíso Golf Club without needing to leave the complex, and you can even just take a walk amongst the hotel's mangroves to relax as well. The fitness center (for ages 16 and older) offers exercise equipment along with yoga, kickboxing, boot camp, and much more. There's tennis and of course the beach activities - kayaking, catamaran sailing, snorkeling, and windsurfing (those are free for the first hour but then do require an extra cost).
Add in a day tour with out favorite in-destination partner to the Coba Ruins and a catamaran tour, and you have the perfect mix of relaxation and exploration!
