This Summer Get Outside and Explore the American West!

Updated: Jan 2, 2022

It's no secret that travel has been pretty much dead for the past year. But, it's making a comeback! We all have different comfort levels with where to travel and how to travel. I think this summer is the perfect time to stay domestic and head outside.

One idea? Explore parts of Montana and Wyoming as you take on Yellowstone National Park and Grand Teton National park. Some of you are used to traveling to Paris or Antigua, and you're not entirely sure this is for you. Here's the thing. I was not sure this was for me either. But after my recent research I know that there are MANY ways you can go West - and it can be done as luxuriously as you'd like. Here are some ideas.

Fly into Bozeman, Montana and check out Sage Lodge.

Sage Lodge is in the heart of Montana's Paradise Valley. Located less than an hour from the airport it's a terrific place to start your time in Montana. The staff is incredibly friendly, they have activities coordinators to work with before you go, and they have a plethora of in-house and out of house activities. And LOOK. AT. THIS. VIEW.

You can stay at a room in the main part of the hotel or you can take the whole family and rent out one of their lodges.

From here you can take part in activities like painting, horseback riding, and fly fishing, and even llama treks - which is at the VERY top of my must-do list!

For those who want to get out on the water you can explore Yellowstone River through kayaks, a scenic float ride (you can even take one at sunset with a packed picnic dinner from one of the restaurants at the resort), or white water rafting.

Staying at Sage Lodge also puts you close to the North entrance of Yellowstone - the only entrance to be open all year round. From the Lodge you can take small group or private tours. In the summer you'll take in the wildlife and mountain scenery and explore Lamar Valley, Mammoth Hot Springs, Tower Falls, Roosevelt Lodge, and Dunraven Pass. You'll get to learn about the longest un-dammed river in the continental US while getting to see the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone, Hayden Valley, Mud Volcano, Fishing Bridge, and the Yellowstone River.

Yellowstone encompasses 3,742 square miles, has over 10,000 hydrothermal features - including geysers, hot springs, mud pots, and fumaroles, and is home to 67 species of mammals and of 285 species of birds. There is a LOT to see.

Another option? Fly into Jackson and take the short trip to Brooks Lake Lodge & Spa

Stay at this 100 year old historic guest ranch located near Jackson Hole, Grand Teton National Park, and Yellowstone National Park. Sitting at 9,200 feet above sea level you'll be in Wyoming’s Rocky Mountains within Shoshone National Forest, one mile from the North American Continental Divide.

There are 15 luxury Lodge Rooms, as well as eight private VIP Cabins.

You'll have views like this:

You'll also have luxury and five-star service here with all-inclusive rates including outdoor activities such as Hiking, horseback riding, archery, fishing, and canoeing.

Gourmet meals including an afternoon tea are included, as well as access to their spa - with a menu that includes hot stone and deep tissue massages, facials, a dry sauna, and fitness room as well as a tranquility room with picture windows framing views of Shoshone National Forest and a 35-foot river rock fireplace

The best thing to do after you've spent time at Brooks Lake is to take the hour drive to Jackson Hole and explore the city - with excursions to Grand Teton National Forest. Stay tuned - because that's what we'll be exploring here soon!
