Saint Lucia. đThis sun-drenched Caribbean destination is one of my all-time favorite places to send clients. It's a laid-back tropical paradise that truly has something for everyone. Luxurious resorts, flavorful food, and the always stunning pitons and Caribbean Sea.
Why do I love Saint Lucia? Let me count the ways!
Easy Non-Stop flights - From multiple destinations around the US. (Sometimes dependent on time of year).
Saint Lucia is a small island - Just 27 miles long and 14 miles wide and lined with gorgeous beaches. Unless you're coming from an inter-island transfer you'll land in the Southernmost part of the island at Hewanorra International Airport (UVF) in Vieux Fort. From there you can either take a short scenic helicopter transfer to your resort or a drive. (Both are great options). Either way - due to its smaller size you'll be able to explore a large percentage of what the island has to offer.
Gorgeous resorts - From activity-filled resorts with endless water and land activities to small boutique hotels - you'll feel as though you're being welcomed home by family. If you're looking for romantic resort recommendations check out my previous blog post here. If you're looking for great family friendly options - keep your eyes on this blog, because that post is coming soon. (Or get in touch with me, and I'll give you a sneak peek!).
Sea Excursions - Sail down the Caribbean sea on a catamaran. You can sip champagne (or have a beer) as you watch the sun set over the horizon. Or choose a daytime excursion where you'll have the opportunity to snorkel among the gorgeous coral reefs with colorful fish. When you're ready for a rest you'll stop near the beach where the onboard chef will prepare a fresh-grilled lunch for you to enjoy. Before you set sail again you can make use of the stand-up paddle boards and flotation devices on board. On your way back, if you'd like you can jump off and take a quick dip in the ocean - or just take in the sounds of the surf as you sail.
Land Excursions - Hike through the rainforest to check out one of the world's only drive through volcanoes, horseback ride along the white sand beaches, or ride a Segway or in a Dune Buggy to an aerial tram and zipline. Walk to the Botanical Gardens where you'll follow a tranquil path that winds from mineral baths through ferns and banana plants to a beautiful spot where you can see the Diamond River become a waterfall.
The scenery - If you've ever read about Saint Lucia you've most likely seen photos of the iconic Pitons - large volcanic spired located on either side of Jalousie Bay. They're truly a gorgeous sight - and were named as a UNESCO World Heritage site in 2004. Merge that with the blue Caribbean Sea, reef fishing, and jungle hikes, and you have gorgeous nature to admire and explore everywhere you turn.
Towns and Villages - Saint Lucia is home to small villages - each with their own cultural experiences. You can find fishing villages, a Friday Night Seafood Street Party, live music, craft shops, a local brewery, and more. Everywhere you turn you'll be immersed in the culture and long history of the island.
Amazing Travel Partners - The tourism board of Saint Lucia, the owners, operators and employees of excursion companies, and those who own and operate the stores, restaurants and resorts all come together to welcome you to their island.
Safety - The government of Saint Lucia has come together to combat COVID, and create a destination that is as safe as possible. With relatively few cases they were among the first to implement strict protocols - and that has kept the island safe to visit, resorts in business, and my clients with a safer place to travel.
Are you ready to book your trip? Whether you go this year or next - this is one to add to your bucket list!
